MazeMage Privacy Policy

Last updated September 21, 2026

MazeMage is a maze game for iPhone and iPad made by Jared Smythe (EtherealSoul). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what your choices are. The short version: the game itself keeps your progress on your device and nothing else. The only data that leaves your device goes to Apple's Game Center and App Store services, and to Google AdMob to show ads.

What the app stores on your device

Your coins, upgrades, unlocked levels, best times, owned skins, and settings are saved in a file on your device. It never leaves your device except through Apple's normal device backups, which you control. Deleting the app deletes it.

Game Center

If you sign in to Game Center, the app submits your weekly challenge scores to Apple's leaderboards under your Game Center profile, and shows you Apple's leaderboard sheet. Apple handles that data under Apple's privacy policy. You can play without signing in; the weekly screen then keeps your results on the device only.

Purchases

Coin packs, skins, and the Ad-Free subscription are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; the app never sees your payment details. The app keeps a record of what you own so it can restore it, and it checks your subscription status with Apple's servers.

Advertising

MazeMage shows ads through Google AdMob unless you have an active Ad-Free subscription. Rewarded ads are only shown when you choose to watch one. To serve and measure ads, the AdMob SDK may collect your device's advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device model and operating system, app usage such as which ad units are shown, and diagnostic data. How Google uses this is described in Google's policy on data from partner apps and Google's privacy policy.

On first launch of an ad, iOS asks whether to allow MazeMage to track you across other apps and websites. If you allow it, ads may be personalized. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not personalized and the advertising identifier is not shared. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and you can reset your advertising identifier in the same place.

Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent form from Google before any personalized ad is served, and can change their choice from within the app's settings.

What the app does not do

Children

MazeMage is rated 9+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Because the app keeps your game data only on your device, you can delete it by deleting the app. For data held by Apple or Google, use their privacy controls linked above. If you live in a region with data protection rights such as the EEA, UK, or California, you can exercise them by contacting us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with an updated date. Material changes are noted in the app's release notes.
